Data Import / Export
Importing data
It is currently not possible to import data into Journalistic, not even data that you have exported from Journalistic (see below). But this will likely change in the future.
We have two import features on the roadmap:
Restoring data that was exported from Journalistic
This should not be necessary in most cases, but it would allow you to delete your account and keep a backup, which you could restore later on if needed.
Importing data from other journaling apps
The most requested apps to import data from have been Day One and Journey, so we'll start with those. If you want to import data from any other journaling apps, please let us know, so that we can add them to the list.
Exporting data
You can export your journaling data in the following formats:
- Plain text (.txt)
- Markdown (.md)
- JSON (.json)
While the former two are optimized for human readability rather than data processing, the JSON export contains most meta information and it will probably be possible at some point to re-import JSON exports.
To export data, navigate to Menu
› Account
.
and click on Download
in the "Data Export" section. The app will then ask you which format you want.
